To say that Commissioner Shane McMahon and Owens haven’t seen eye-to-eye since KO came to SmackDown LIVE would be an incredible understatement. The bad blood reached new levels of intensity several months ago when Zayn appeared from out of nowhere to help Owens win a barbaric Hell in a Cell Match against Shane-O-Mac, thus renewing his friendship with his former bitter rival.
Owens and Zayn subsequently formed The “Yep!” Movement, spitefully rebelling against Shane, defying the Commissioner at every turn and even causing a rift between Shane and General Manager Daniel Bryan.
With both Owens & Zayn competing in a WWE Championship Six-Pack Challenge at WWE Fastlane for the opportunity to defend the title WrestleMania, kinks began to show in the armor of The “Yep!” Movement. And at WrestleMania, the wolves will be thrown into the ring to feed on each other. As his last act before taking an indefinite leave of absence, Shane McMahon created this bout before being brutalized by KO and Zayn.
There is very little chance that Owens and Zayn’s showdown at The Showcase of the Immortals will be the least bit cordial. After all, the two Superstars routinely ripped each other apart in a longstanding bitter rivalry before rekindling their friendship. A showdown set on The Grandest Stage of Them All seems certain to be their most intense match to date, one that could make their past confrontations pale in comparison.
Will WrestleMania end The “Yep!” Movement forever? Find out Sunday, April 8, streaming live at a special start time of 7 ET/4 PT on WWE Network.
