According to reports, Elias was to have a big WrestleMania 34 moment in New Orleans, but Vince McMahon scrapped the idea.
Elias has received a major push over the past few months, and looks primed to “break out” at just about any time now – and WrestleMania 34 just may be the stage for the star guitarist to perform a magical moment.
And as it turns out, there truly was a big moment set in stone for ‘The Drifter’ at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. According to a report from DirtySheet.com, Elias was to perform another guitar singalong, only to be cut off and interrupted by “at least five legends.”
The report also outlined that The Rock was going to be one of those legends to interrupt Elias, but Vince McMahon put a stop to the idea. The reason? There is no guarantee at this time that the People’s Champion will be able to attend WrestleMania, which all but ended a big moment for Elias on The Grandest Stage of Them All.
So with that, it’s now anybody’s guess what WWE could have in plans for Elias. He’s not featured on the card right now (including the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal), and with 13 matches scheduled, it’s unlikely he’ll be added to one at the last minute.
But there is the possibility of him being the mystery tag team partner for Braun Strowman, who has yet to announce his right-hand man when he challenges Cesaro and Sheamus for the Raw Tag Team Championships. Perhaps Elias and Strowman will have ended their feud and begin working together.
If not, perhaps Elias will still perform one of his awesome songs while asking the thousands of fans who will want to “walk with” him. He’s slowly emerging as one of the top superstars on the Monday Night Raw roster, and it’s hard to envision the big show excluding him.
With Mr. McMahon cancelling what would have been huge plans for Elias, we anxiously await to see what the plans will be for The Drifter in New Orleans.
